I send out a monthly email newsletter that never exceeds 300 words and includes:

  • An audio recording and AI-generated transcript of that month’s board meeting,
  • Links to any new, significant content on this website,
  • Any other important news for that month.

Here are highlights of the most recent few newsletters. I deleted repetitious content, as well as routine, dated, announcements of social events.

June 2026

  • The most urgent news from the meeting is that a new deadline has been set for sealing the post bases and the entire surfaces of our balconies (including, thankfully, a commitment by the board to fully communicate both of those requirements–for the first time as far as I can tell–to the entire ownership). Even if you think you’ve already met the requirement, check again! (I received an anonymous response to my post about the balconies.)
  • Please come to the Owner Conversations with The Board Laura Park. The next one is July 13.
  • Artwork by our own Daniel Young is being exhibited at Master Framers! At some point, there’s going to be an Opening, but you can go check it out now.
  • Our own Kathy Pilugin will be reading from her memoir, Echoes of a Global Life, at Subtext Books on July 28 at 7pm.

May 2026

  • There’s a new City Walk Talk feature: a record of all votes that occur during the board meetings.
  • FSR, our management company, is offering a webinar on Insurance on June 2 that could be useful. You can sign up here.
  • Please come to the Owner Conversations with The Board Laura Park. They’re a great way to:
    • Learn what’s going on in the building.
    • Ask questions or express concerns to at least one board member.
    • Support Laura in her attempts to improve communication between the board and the rest of us owners.

April 2026

March 2026

  • The March board meeting has been canceled.
  • Help this newsletter overcome its erasure from the bulletin boards by letting your fellow owners know about it.
  • The Social Committee is planning a couple of specially themed Story Hours. If you’re an artist or an author and would like to share some of your work (or if there’s any story, yours or someone else’s, you’d like to tell), contact Ruth Markowitz.
  • Consider joining the Friends of the Skyway.
  • Help digitize our governing docs.

February 2026

  • At the meeting, Ray Aguirre made an unjustified attack on Social Committee chair Ruth Markovitz.
  • The next “Owner Conversations with the Board” will be Monday, March 9, 6:30pm in the Party Room. I encourage everyone to attend, as this is a better opportunity to communicate with the board than we’ve had in a long time.
  • Speaking of board communications: there are now two “Phone-side Chat” videos posted, in which board members or other present or past leaders of the HOA speak to the ownership for three minutes.
  • Speaking of anti-communications: someone is taking down bulletin board posts.
  • Help digitize our governing docs!
  • Lastly, there’s a new Game Night! Every second Wednesday of the month at 5pm in the party room. This is in addition to the original Game Night, which continues on the last Saturday of every month.

January 2026

  • Laura Park and Ray Aguirre were elected to fill the two open board seats at tonight’s Annual Meeting. Because they were the only two nominees, no voting was done, so it’s unknown how many votes each would have gotten.
  • There’s an update concerning the disturbing email I received from the board: You can now read the entire correspondence I had with the board member here.
  • City Walk Talk is launching a new feature: Phone-side Chats. Every week, a board member will speak to the owners in a video recording for no more than five minutes on any subject they feel is important.

December 2025

  • A Candidate Forum took place on December 15. Here’s the recording.
  • The Annual Meeting is Monday, January 26. If you can’t attend, please consider assigning your voting proxy to someone who can. A proxy gives the other owner the power to vote on your behalf, but they can cast that vote for whomever they like. So be sure to give your proxy to someone who’ll vote as you wish.
  • Here’s who I plan to vote for.
  • I received a disturbing email from a board member last week.
  • The 2026 Budget and HOA fees were mailed to all the owners over the weekend, so you should have received yours by now. Here’s my opinion on the increase in the Reserve Fund transfers.
  • There was no board meeting this month.
