The main purpose of this posting is to encourage everyone at City Walk to join the newly formed Friends of the Skyway. You can contact them at skywaysaintpaul@gmail.com — feel free to email me at bcipra@rconnect.com if you have questions.
The skyway is one of the (many) attractive features of living at City Walk. Our direct connection to Town Square via the skybridge over 7th Street makes it easy to get to a great many places downtown, or simply go for a walk, without having to contend with inclement weather or deal unnecessarily with dangerous conditions outdoors (e.g., crazy drivers, icy sidewalks, etc.). The skyway is open from 6am to midnight, seven days a week, year round. The security guards at Town Square are some really nice people; I recommend getting to know them.
At the moment, the skyway is disrupted by the closure, since last April (2025), of the Alliance Bank building. This is one of the issues that the Friends of the Skyway hopes to address. Whether you are a member of not, you can fill out their Saint Paul Skyway Survey to express your views on this and other skyway-related issues.
In addition, I encourage everyone who can to join the weekly Tuesday morning skyway walking group, which departs at 9am every Tuesday from the skyway lobby of the U.S. Bank building. It’s a good way to meet residents from other buildings downtown. No registration is required, just come to the departure point and look for a group of people (usually about a dozen) who look ready to go for a stroll.
